This bike plant stand is very cute but it is top heavy with plants on it. The base is fairly stable, but it could use more support especially if in a windy spot. I'm putting rocks in the pedal pots to give it more stability.

Drew Shoes Men's Arlington Oxford Drew Shoes Men's Arlington Oxford

Reviews

Pros: -Probably the most attractive Drew shoe -Good fit (adjustable depth after all) Cons: -Not as comfortable as they should be for the price/brand -Not enough padding Conclusions: My feet are so hard to find something that fits well for some reason. I have a particularly wide foot that is sensitive at the top so finding a shoe like this that is both adequately wide, deep, -and- stylish is often very difficult. I like the shoe overall, but it really falls short of the comfort I was looking for. The ankle support tends to dig into you more than it supports and the leather support on the heel has a seam that can also rub against you unpleasantly. The width of the ankle is also much wider than I thought, and so my heel tends to slip despite the general good fit of the shoe. Even with my orthotics, I feel the shoe could use a little more padding in the sole and the ankle.

Brooks Saddles Barbican Messenger Bag Brooks Saddles Barbican Messenger Bag

Some things to think about. 1. It doesn't look as elegant/professional in real life as in the pictures. 2. Brook's photographers are very good. 3. I trust it's construction much more than a north face backpack, but slightly less than a proper timbuk2 bag. 4. my roommate took one look at it and said "that's a liberal art's professor's bag" 5. that's okay becuase it can carry a semester's worth of text books every day and manage to look only better after a year. 6. which is what you really need it for.

Brooks Saddles B67 Bicycle Saddle (Men's) Brooks Saddles B67 Bicycle Saddle (Men's)

Reviews

just a perfect saddle, everything about it is great, it has been hurting my butt for the past month but within that pain is an underlying sense of comfort. with each day it becomes more and more comfortable and I look forward to the day that this thing is like putty under my butt.

Saddle's are a very hard thing to review due to the fact that what fits one person may not fit another. That being said I can at least review this saddle for its quality construction and how it fits me. The construction is fantastic, the leather is high quality and the components all seem to be very heavy duty. I have gone through 5 different saddles, some of them costing more than this one and was limited to no more than about 45 minuets of riding before I could not stand it any longer. From the first ride this saddle fit me perfect. I can truly ride until my legs are tired instead of having to stop when my butt just can't take it anymore! I ride about 150 miles a week and could not be more pleased with the comfort. Plus this is a very classy upgrade to my bike. On a note about purchasing this, I bought it from wellington bikes (google them) - they offer a 6 month return policy (!) -- makes it much less scary to order a 100.00+ bike saddle! I can tell you already that after only 160ish miles I am sure I am keeping this saddle. Good luck and happy trails!

The Brooks B67 (B67S for women) is basically the best saddle available for upright (sit up) riding position. The saddle was created not for a racing position (see the B17 for that) but rather for the straight up position where most of your weight is on your sit bones and your handlewars are typically higher or close to the level of the seat. It does its job exceedingly well and there is no more comfortable saddle available than a broken in Brooks B67 for that type of riding. It would work well with commuter or urban bikes as well as with hybrid or comfort bikes. I would not use one if the seat post itself has a shock absorber though and you do need to consider the handlebar style and position to get the benefit of this saddle (no drop bars for example). If this relaxed riding style/position is what you are after then look no further for a saddle.

Average Rating:

The Brooks B67 saddle is probably the ultimate saddle for "comfort" bikes. It is one of Brooks' widest saddles, and is a great choice for riders who like to sit upright on their bikes, with handlebars a fair bit higher than the saddle and most of the rider's weight on the saddle...

Brooks Perforated Leather Bicycle Handlebar Tape w/Plugs Brooks Perforated Leather Bicycle Handlebar Tape w/Plugs

Reviews

Brooks handlebar tape is high quality and look really nice on my bike. However, I had a little trouble putting them on exactly right. At first it seemed like there was more tape than I needed so I cut some off, only to find that toward the end of wrapping it around my handlebars, that I almost came up short, which would really suck. These things aren't cheap. I think some instructions or visual diagrams would be a nice to have.

Feels great. Lasts long. Unless you crash it is indestructible. Pretty spendy but if you consider it will out last 3 wraps of corks is worth it.

How to Restore Your Collector Bicycle How to Restore Your Collector Bicycle

Reviews

This is a second printing of the same helpful hands-on guide published in 2001. The original book received several 5-star reader reviews which may be viewed at the first printing's product detail pageHow to Restore Your Collector Bicycle. The chapters not only cover finding, evaluating, and restoring old bicycles, but discuss all aspects of collecting them. Step-by-step disassembly and assembly procedures are covered in detail, with one chapter devoted strictly to painting. There is even a black and white photo gallery showing collectors' personal bikes. Written for hobbyists by a hobbyist.

Well written book for a collector and enthusiast. Loads of helpful information for any restoration project. Great photos and checklists.

I am mainly into restoring classic British cars, but my interest in classic bicycles has always been strong. I have found this to be an excellent book for its coverage of the restoration process, for the many helpful technical tips sprinkled throughout, and for the high level historical information covering major categories of most commonly collected bikes. Some of best financial advice in the book relates to finding and selecting reasonable project bikes (I have a bad habit of trying to "save" bikes needing major work and/or missing parts). The chapters "Finding and Evaluating a Bicycle" and "Choosing the Right Project" have helped to change my approach. As recently as this morning, after becoming enamoured with a certain 1920s era bicycle needing restoration, I checked page 12 and was tipped off that the expense of the single tube tires might be significant. A quick phone call verified the expense...saved!This is a well written book and well worth the investment.

a great book love it

I can't say enough good things about this book! Of course it has the usual "how to remove a tire" info, but the sections on rebuilding and refinishing a vintage bicycle are plain outstanding! The information is detailed without being overwhelming. And they also make sense to non-gearheads like me. The book also gives lots of sources for obtaining vintage and reproduction parts--with URLs that actually work! One of the things I liked best about the book is that the author places much emphasis on the decision making process involved in cleaning/repairing/restoring an old bike. As we all know, many collectible bikes (and collectibles of any kind!) have been ruined by over-enthusiastic owners wanting to make them "like new." It is obvious that Mr. Love LOVES his hobby, and delights in sharing it with other people. Highly recommended!

Standard Catalog Of Schwinn Bicycles 1895-2004 Standard Catalog Of Schwinn Bicycles 1895-2004

Reviews

MY HUSBAND REC'D THIS BOOK @ HIS BIRTHDAY. HE LOVED IT SO MUCH, HE SHARED IT WITH MY SON & HIS BEST FRIEND ( WHO ARE ALSO SCHWINN BIKE GUYS )I HAD TO BUY 2 MORE FOR THEM. A GREAT BOOK, YOU'LL ENJOY

I've read a few books by Doug Mitchel, and this is another high-quality book. I like the simple layouts as well as the vintage photos and ads, but the photography is the best part (IMHO as a professional photographer ;) )! The title doesn't lie. It's not a complete catalog, but a standard one, and for standard, the photography is very good. People are griping because the book doesn't have every single Schwinn ever made. I have a friend who worked with for a guy, compiling a book (much like this one) of racecar photographs, and he told me that if the cars weren't available for pictures, they simply weren't going to be in the book. My friend spent a lot of time helping the guy track down car owners and, the two were lucky to find the amount of cars they did. For some high-quality shots of a wide variety of Schwinn bikes, you can't go wrong with this book.

I have three Schwinn bicycles and recently sold two others and none of them were listed in this "standard catalog." This book was very disappointing.

I browsed through this book at a local bike shop. It had some nice photos but it is not a "Catalog" by any stretch of the imagination. Save your money and do some Google searching and you will get more information than this book presents.

This review is for; Standard Catalog Of Schwinn Bicycles 1895-2004 As pointed out by the other reviewers this is hardly an accurate "catalog" with the technical details that we usually associate with precise catalogs. Instead, this 160-page book is just a short pictorial and text reference for casual interest. As others pointed out this book does not have a complete catalog of all the Schwinn bikes produced (which would mean a much bigger book!), but just a random assortment of Schwinn bikes produce from 1895 to the present. Yes, unfortunately those but-ugly Schwinn choppers called "Stingray" (Stingray Imposters!) from a couple of years ago are also included. As a Schwinn enthusiast myself who proudly owns four Schwinn bikes that I refuse to let go of and I enjoyed the fact that my 1998 Schwinn Paramount was in the book. Don't expect detailed information for each bike such as specifications and frame measurements that you may have seen from actual Schwinn catalogs. The book only has a few photographs of the whole bike and a few close-ups of the bike and accessories. In terms of text, details of each bike described is limited to one paragraph at the most! If you are a Stingray or Krate enthusiast over 55 pages are dedicated to the Stingray & Krate (mostly original and a few pages of the later reproductions). I'm just a mild Schwinn enthusiast, so I was surprised to see some products that I never saw before such as the Stingray tandem bike called the "Mini Twin" (which was produced for only one year!) and the moto-cross bike called the "Hornet". The book shows all the odd yet unique accessories such as the Stingray "ram-horn" handle bars, windshield and baseball bat carrier. Some photographs of the Excelsior motorcycle and other motorcycles designed by Ignaz Schwinn (the 1895 founder) are included in the book. Other pictures included are some of the vintage Schwinn ads produced throughout the years. As far as the text, the book briefly explains the history of Schwinn, but most of the text is dedicated to explaining the various lines of Schwinn. I highly recommend the book "No Hands" by Judith Crown & Glenn Coleman if you want to get a better historical perspective on the history of Schwinn. My only mild complaint about the book is that since the 160 pages of roughly 8.5" X 11" pages (office size) are paper bound, the large center-fold pictures are somewhat difficult to see because the middle of the photo is "mashed" very tightly where separate pages are bound together. The "Schwinn Bicycle" book by Pridemore & Hurd was a slightly better book in terms of presentation because the pages were slightly larger 10.5"X 10.5" in a hardcover bound book. I think this "catalog" book would have been slightly better if the pages were wider. Despite the fact that this book isn't really a detailed "catalog" for the Schwinn die-hards, I still thinks it's still a pleasure for people with some casual interest to browse through and look at those wonderful Schwinn bikes that you have or use to have or wished you have!

Average Rating:

Schwinn bicycles are fast becoming hot collectibles. With hundreds of collector clubs and skyrocketing prices for online auctions, the demand for detailed information on these classic bikes is high. Now, fans of the Paramounts, Krates, Varsities and other cool Schwinn-built bikes can enjoy a beautiful photographic history and study of the evolution of the bikes through the years, with Standard Catalog of(r) Schwinn Bicycles...
