Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike

Reviews

Ours came with very detailed directions and we finished putting it together in about 45 minutes. It is easier with two people doing it. There didn't seem to be a lot of pieces which was good. You do need metric tools. There are a lot of good reviews that we used to help make the process easier. Love this bike!!

I received my Schwinn Airdyne Evo Comp Exercise Bike promptly by two day prime shipment. A Fed Ex driver delivered it a long distance through deep snow by hand truck. When ordering,I did not receive the extra $100.00 off at check-out, but this was remedied by a brief email. When I opened the carton, I was impressed by the quality of the product. Based upon other reviews I expected the assembly instructions to be very poor. What I did not expect was the complete lack of any instructions. On February 10, 2010, I emailed Amazon and Schwinn about the problem and requested instructions. Today is February 18, 2010, I have not heard a word from either company. As a customer who has spent many thousands of dollars with Amazon over the last several years, I am very unhappy. I will thing twice before ordering again

The bike was harder to put together than we'd expected, owing to the very similar size of certain bolts/screws, which we had in the wrong places at first. Realizing we had to have it wrong (directions were only somewhat helpful - diagrams of poor quality and small scale), we took everything apart and started over. Unpacking, reading and assembly took several hours; both assemblers are college grads, and fairly handy with tools! In the end, it has been a great replacement for an older Schwinn Airdynne, quieter and more compact than the previous model. The seat is easier to adjust for different users, too, and the electronic display clearly shows time, distance, and other measures.

Well built and comfortable to ride...very smooth, tight mechanism...makes less noise than the original Airdyne, so I can hear the TV...shipped package is very heavy, be sure to inspect carefully for damage...assembly is realtively simple if you have basic mechanical skills, if not, get help...you will need to tinker with seat height and angle to get the most comfortable setting...overall, a great exercise bike...

This is the exercise machine for Seniors! It will tone the leg mussles, work the shoulder and arm mussles and build body strength in general. Works the Cardiovascular system as well as improving ones breathing deapth and rate. Easy to assemble but assembly instruction manual could be improved. i.e., nuts and bolts by size should have a profile picture-would help speed up assembly time. This machine model is well worth the cost difference between the two model bikes, especially for the heavier person (200lbs and up) The alternate seat that's available for purchase for a male is mandatory! (not the standard seat enclosed) Even the woman of the house perfers the smaller seat.

Schwinn Adjustable Kickstand Schwinn Adjustable Kickstand

Reviews

I only had this kickstand for a couple of weeks, when a small washer fell off. I couldn't see where it came from, but the kickstand arm wouldn't lock when you put it down and if you wern't careful, it would collapse. A week later another small washer fell off and the kickstand wouldn't work at all. I then took the kickstand off of the bike and found that there is a rivet that holds the kickstand arm in place. The washers that fell off had been holding the rivet in place. I was able to do sort of a fix by peening the rivet end over with a hammer. Disappointing to see such poor quality control from Schwinn. Otherwise the kickstand is very rugged.

I bought this to put on my 6 year olds bike and it works great. Easy to install and very sturdy.

I bought two of these for my 5 year old twins' 16" bikes after the training wheels came off. They work great. Very good product for the price.

Very pleased with the two we purchased for our child's two bikes. Was a bit concerned it wouldn't be short enough for a 14" bike, but it was. Works well for larger bikes as well.

I purchased this to use on my city bike, to which I just attached a trailer. Having no kickstand was a hassle, so I bought this one. The price is great. Unfortunately, on this particular bike, the rear brake assembly is mounted right where the kickstand is supposed to go. Frustrating, but pretty much unforeseeable. Fortunately, I had another bike in need of a kickstand, and it works perfectly. And because it's black, and the bike is black, I'm fully color-coordinated. Nice. (Still need another kickstand, though.)

The initial sound quality of the SoundWalk was horrible, Only after reading that that is how you know the batteries are low. The included batteries were evidently low and sound was satisfactory when I replaced the batteries. Not as comfortable as my Bone-Fone of 30 years ago but a pleasurable experience. To many useless straps and clips and not a place to put my iPod or iphone. No on-off switch and if you don't remove the Batteries after every use they continue to discharge. Unzipping and removing the speaker to open the battery cover will undoubtably wear the plastic battery cover. I would like to see a more comfortable padded form that provided as much body vibration as my similar Bone-Fone of 30 years ago. But over-all a pleasant musical experience during activities.

I was hesitant to spend so much on a liner for my bicycle basket, but I promise it was worth every penny!! I have two small dogs that I frequently carry in my bike basket, and I didn't want their little feet to slip through the holes at the bottom so a liner was an absolute must. Looking for bike basket liners was tedious! They are all so ugly and tacky...and then I found Couture Cruisers liners. Not only are they cute, they are durable and washable! The fact that it turns into a bag that you can carry with you it so great. That way I don't have to worry about the liner getting stolen when I leave my bike locked up, plus I don't have to find pockets for all my stuff. The cell phone pocket is a great feature so that my phone doesn't sit at the bottom of my basket getting stepped on by my doggie daughters. My friend liked my basket liner so much, she ordered one for herself in a different pattern!! I would absolutely recommend this product to anyone!! And as an added bonus this product arrived BEFORE the promised date, which is always a welcome surprise!!

Schwinn Aluminum Frame Pump Schwinn Aluminum Frame Pump

Reviews

It works well and it's very convenient to carry it around. However I encountered a problem with it. After inflating the tire, it's very tough to pull out the head. Can anyone tell me how to handle it? Thanks.

Works great. What more can I say? I have gotten thorn proof inner tubes and punture proof tires. I hope it all works....

This pump does the job. Fits on the frame nicely and is easy to install. You could probably use it as your main pump, although I think most people will be happier with a standard floor pump. I have only used mine a few times, when I need air away from my home and don't have my main pump handy. Each time I've had to use it though, it's worked well and it's still in great shape. A good value, I think-- especially when you're out of air a need it!

This is a nice little lightweight pump. Like most portable pumps, don't expect it to be able to pump tires to 80 psi. It'll just give you enough pressure to get home and no more. I like the feature with the two heads for both valve types. It stores securely on the seatpost waterbottle braze-on's on my bike. Never worried about it falling off my bike. My crane and foot misses it by a centimeter or so.

I needed a basic portable pump for my Giant Sedona hybrid and bought this pump based on its reviews and the attractive price. It works well - ie. frame mounts well and satisfies the pressure needs for my comfort/hybrid bike tires (they don't need more than 100psi max that this one provides).

Average Rating:

Featuring the Schwinn brand Americans have trusted for over one hundred years this pump is small enough to go with you anywhere. Bicycle tires and tubes require a fixed pressure per square inch (PSI) to function safely and at best performance...

Schwinn Thrasher Adult Micro Bicycle Helmet (Adult) Schwinn Thrasher Adult Micro Bicycle Helmet (Adult)

Reviews

My wife and I both have one. We have quite different heads but no problems with fit. Chin strap is adjustable and comfortable. Ventilation is great. The visor is a nice option and easily removed. I couldn't find any reason to pay more or a lot more for a different helmet for recreational riding and commuting.

Since I happened to have (a different) helmet on when I had a spill - I don't ride without a helment anymore. I like this helmet - it's adjustable, reasonably priced and comfortable. And, while I haven't had it put to the ultimate test, I think it will do the job.

What can you possibly say about bicycle helmets? No helmet will win a fashion award, but this one is as good as they come. Haven't tested it with an accident yet, but I do find it comfortable, easily adjusted for size and not all that bad looking. I didn't feel the need to pay $80 for a helmet and compared it to others in a retail store before ordering from Amazon.

We bought the Thrasher helmet for our son-in-law for Christmas. He did extensive online research and this helmet was the best for the money. He loves it.

First, there is the safety philosophy: one must wear a crash helmet when bike riding--especially when one is 66 years old and a bit unstable on two wheels, so I bot one. The reviews were just too good on this helmet to ignor. I liked the adjustable feature so that it would fit snugly because I have been to the bike store and have seen that the fixed size helmets do not fit snugly for me. The whole purpose of when one takes a header over the handle bars is to be properly protected by a good fitting helmet--it must fit snugly to protect the cranium. Secondly, look at the price: how can you beat the cost of that level of personal insurance protection. Third, buy Amazon cuz I am thinking of buying some of their stock. They are making scads of profit.

Schwinn Roadster 12-Inch Trike (Red) Schwinn Roadster 12-Inch Trike (Red)

Reviews

We've had this for just over 24 hours, and my almost 2.5 year old girl loves it. My husband's comment was 'wow that is a serious trike!' Pros- normal bike tires (good suspension and traction, plus easy to patch/repair/replace), metal frame (long lasting), adjustable seat position (box claims 26" to 38"), actual seat instead of a saddle (harder to to fall off of for younger kids), retro style, cool bell Cons- heavy/big (needs more room to store, more effort to lift), not tip proof (My daughter tipped it once going down our driveway, once turning on our street. That said it took a a fair amount to tip and she was fine once she learns how to safely turn it will be fine, doubt that any trike is truely tip-proof) Over all I am very happy with this trike. My daughter loves it. Watch out as it is easy to pedal backwards and if you are walking behind them you could get hit by the backdeck in the ankles. Also be advised that you will need an adjustable wrench, phillips head screwdriver and a bike pump w/ pressure gauge to assemble. Instruction were a little confusing especially with my daughter wanting to help, but took less than 10 minutes. Don't forget to buy a helmet!

With only a few parts, this trike was easy as could be to asemble. Our grandson loves it, although he is so small we needed to get some pedal blocks.

My twin granddaughters loved their new trikes. Loved the bell naturally and thought they were pretty cool!! Would buy again. Made extremely good. Should hold up for years to come.

We bought this for our daughter's second birthday, and WOW it is a big hit. I especially like the seat design along with how low the bike it. I was initially going to get her a traditional tricycle but was worried she'd tip it over. This bike solves that problem. As far as the minimum age, my daugher's feet just barely hit the pedals and she's a very tall 2 year old (35 inches). Her friend, who is a bit shorter, cannot yet reach the pedals.

You are so close to purchasing the Perfect tricyle. Do not bother to search any further than this well designed and manufactured, piece of equipment! Having wanted to find a tricyle that incorporated the "Good Old Days" look/feel, with todays ride quality, I found it in this Schwinn!! Upon opening and assembling the bike, my expectations were met and slightly exceeded. The assembly was super easy and fast! The Red Chassis is beautifully shaped and the Vibrant paint looks and feels fantastic. The wood step and "chrome" fenders flow nicely with the wide rear stance of the bike giving it a fantastic, well balanced ride. With an adjustable seat that sits at a low center of gravity helps keep the bike sturdy while this new rider is pushing it with his feet. The handlebars look and function equally well. It's wide sling back design, provides an easy reach, also the steering requires light input and is very smooth. And all of this goodness is riding on 3 nicely treaded rubber tires that actually have air in them. Basically, it does not get any better or easier! A wonderful product, delivered to your door in short order and free, all at half the cost of the bike itself!! If all my purchases went this well, I'm not sure what I would do with the extra time and money! P.S. I did remove the bell. The sound was awful and I did not like the look.

Schwinn Outback 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack Schwinn Outback 2-Bike Trunk Mount Rack

Reviews

I purchased this rack to carry two bikes and all it took was one patch of bad road and it bent my trunk so bad that I can't latch my trunk anymore.

This rack by Schwinn is low cost and simple. It is also a potential disaster with deadly flaws! The rack is easy to fit to a "compatible listed" saloon like mine, even if the printed instructions can be a bit confusing. The rack's workings are based on having two sets of rubber feet resting on the top and rear of the outside of the car's trunk lid. The carrier is then held in place by two sets of 2 tensioning straps which clip over the top and bottom of the trunk lid. The bike(s) are then held in place in a cradle by two plastic "bangles" which are punched with holes which "pop" over four buttons on the other side of the strap. Easy and simple! And so it seems. A bit of huffing and puffing to make sure the straps are really tight (and tying knots to keep them secure after running the straps through the buckles three times), and a bit of concern about the reliability of the plastic "bangles" and it is time to fit on a bike (in our case we tried only one first thank goodness). Off we drove - and within a couple of miles the problems became apparent as I saw in my rear-view mirror the two lower straps flapping in the wind - detached. On pulling over I found that the two lower clips had indeed slipped off the bottom of my trunk lid and that the top ones were on their way to being loose as well. At which point of course the whole theory - and the rack with your bike - collapses in front of moving traffic if you haven't been quick enough to spot what is happening. Enough sarcasm! The flaws are as follows: (1) No matter how tight you manage to get the straps - and how securely you fasten them in the buckles - the weight of the bike when you drive over a bump in the road forces the whole rack down by the fractions of an inch necessary to allow the clips to start slipping off the bottom of your trunk lid. A few bumps and they are off. In our case it took around 4 miles on an urban road at less than 40 mph. The tensioning in the straps necessary to avoid this just cannot be applied by (most) human efforts. (2) Once the bottom straps are loose there is more than enough "play" for the top ones to bounce out over a few miles too. There will be no downward pull to stop them coming free - at which point the rack ((with bike) falls off the car in front of following traffic. (3) Those plastic loops or "bangles" holding the bikes do not look too secure either. We tied our bike down with twine as well to try to be safe. Bear in mind we only loaded 1 bike. With 2 on the rack the problem mentioned in (1) above would be much worse as the downward thrust on a bump in the road would be that much more because of the additional weight. In this case "cheap" is far from "cheerful". BE VERY VERY WARY OF THIS PRODUCT - which I honestly think Schwinn (and Target in our case) should withdraw.

I would give this rack negative numbers if possible. I mounted the rack on my car and attached it to my RV. We went 40 miles down the road and when we stopped for gas, the bikes and rack were gone. It had fallen off in traffic on the interstate. I lost over $600 inbikes plus the rack. DO NOT TRUST THIS RACK!!!

I bought this because it was Schwinn, and it was simply name recognition. Once the straps are tightened, the tension buckles do not remain so, and over time the straps will come loose from the car if left to their own devices. The straps must have too much play in them for the Florida weather because they don't stay tight on the car. Also not taken into account are the J hooks meant to keep the unit mounted/stabilized to the bottom of the trunk. They are not long enough to grip the trunk itself, instead hooking the plastic panel covering the trunk on my Saturn, warping it when the carrier is tightened. In addition, the straps that wrap around a bike's top tube and affix it to the rack are made of a flimsy plastic which has a tendency to come unsnapped as the bikes sway. This rack was purchased from my local Target store.

The product is great in the sense that it does the job. It is a bike rack and nothing more. I have used this a dozen times and have had no problems. Great product for the price.

MY HUSBAND REC'D THIS BOOK @ HIS BIRTHDAY. HE LOVED IT SO MUCH, HE SHARED IT WITH MY SON & HIS BEST FRIEND ( WHO ARE ALSO SCHWINN BIKE GUYS )I HAD TO BUY 2 MORE FOR THEM. A GREAT BOOK, YOU'LL ENJOY

I've read a few books by Doug Mitchel, and this is another high-quality book. I like the simple layouts as well as the vintage photos and ads, but the photography is the best part (IMHO as a professional photographer ;) )! The title doesn't lie. It's not a complete catalog, but a standard one, and for standard, the photography is very good. People are griping because the book doesn't have every single Schwinn ever made. I have a friend who worked with for a guy, compiling a book (much like this one) of racecar photographs, and he told me that if the cars weren't available for pictures, they simply weren't going to be in the book. My friend spent a lot of time helping the guy track down car owners and, the two were lucky to find the amount of cars they did. For some high-quality shots of a wide variety of Schwinn bikes, you can't go wrong with this book.

I have three Schwinn bicycles and recently sold two others and none of them were listed in this "standard catalog." This book was very disappointing.

I browsed through this book at a local bike shop. It had some nice photos but it is not a "Catalog" by any stretch of the imagination. Save your money and do some Google searching and you will get more information than this book presents.

This review is for; Standard Catalog Of Schwinn Bicycles 1895-2004 As pointed out by the other reviewers this is hardly an accurate "catalog" with the technical details that we usually associate with precise catalogs. Instead, this 160-page book is just a short pictorial and text reference for casual interest. As others pointed out this book does not have a complete catalog of all the Schwinn bikes produced (which would mean a much bigger book!), but just a random assortment of Schwinn bikes produce from 1895 to the present. Yes, unfortunately those but-ugly Schwinn choppers called "Stingray" (Stingray Imposters!) from a couple of years ago are also included. As a Schwinn enthusiast myself who proudly owns four Schwinn bikes that I refuse to let go of and I enjoyed the fact that my 1998 Schwinn Paramount was in the book. Don't expect detailed information for each bike such as specifications and frame measurements that you may have seen from actual Schwinn catalogs. The book only has a few photographs of the whole bike and a few close-ups of the bike and accessories. In terms of text, details of each bike described is limited to one paragraph at the most! If you are a Stingray or Krate enthusiast over 55 pages are dedicated to the Stingray & Krate (mostly original and a few pages of the later reproductions). I'm just a mild Schwinn enthusiast, so I was surprised to see some products that I never saw before such as the Stingray tandem bike called the "Mini Twin" (which was produced for only one year!) and the moto-cross bike called the "Hornet". The book shows all the odd yet unique accessories such as the Stingray "ram-horn" handle bars, windshield and baseball bat carrier. Some photographs of the Excelsior motorcycle and other motorcycles designed by Ignaz Schwinn (the 1895 founder) are included in the book. Other pictures included are some of the vintage Schwinn ads produced throughout the years. As far as the text, the book briefly explains the history of Schwinn, but most of the text is dedicated to explaining the various lines of Schwinn. I highly recommend the book "No Hands" by Judith Crown & Glenn Coleman if you want to get a better historical perspective on the history of Schwinn. My only mild complaint about the book is that since the 160 pages of roughly 8.5" X 11" pages (office size) are paper bound, the large center-fold pictures are somewhat difficult to see because the middle of the photo is "mashed" very tightly where separate pages are bound together. The "Schwinn Bicycle" book by Pridemore & Hurd was a slightly better book in terms of presentation because the pages were slightly larger 10.5"X 10.5" in a hardcover bound book. I think this "catalog" book would have been slightly better if the pages were wider. Despite the fact that this book isn't really a detailed "catalog" for the Schwinn die-hards, I still thinks it's still a pleasure for people with some casual interest to browse through and look at those wonderful Schwinn bikes that you have or use to have or wished you have!
