Shimano SPD-SL Cleat SetsReviewsI had these cleats for about 4 months. Now they need to be replaced. I am really disappointed at the quality of the engineering design because the ultegra cleats do quickly wear down compared to SPDs or even Look series pedals. The color contact portions grind off rather fast. The clip in gets duller and duller as the color contact points wear down. The issue is also the fact the plastics are not cast out of the same material, there is a delamination of the two plastic layers, further complicating the durability of the cleat. My SPD cleats lasted 10 years without an issue. As matter of fact, they still work. When I switched to Ultegras, they worn down so badly, I have to buy a new pair just 4 months in. I have been using these cleats for about 4-years...Just replaced the yellow (floating) with the red-trim (fixed). I guess I am a glutten for punishment! Both configurations are almost impossible to clip into, first try. What is perhaps worse about the red (fixed) cleat is that in my opinion it needs to be very acurately aligned to avoid knee injury. Shimano Men's Mountain Bike Shoes - SH-MT32LReviewsThis is a nice pair of mtb shoes, but they are very small. You must buy 2 sizes above the one of your regular shoes. I wear size 40 (somewhere between US 7 and 7.5) and that's the size I bought, but shimano size 40 happens to be US 6.7 and my feet end up with too tight a fit. As I live in South America returning them is not possible (mailing them back costs more than the shoes themselves) but they might be a good fit for my fiancee as she wears 36. Average Rating: |
